Rosemary Essential Oil is also commonly known as Anthos, Dew of the Sea. A very fragrant plant with needle like leaves, and part of the aromatic mint family of plants. The oil derived from rosemary leaves have a distinct, wood-buring/mustard like smell to them. Recognized as an essential oil for remembrance, diffuse the energizing Rosemary Essential Oil may help reduce mental and emotional exhaustion while stimulating focus and mental clarity. Medicinal studies suggest carnosic acid, found in rosemary, may shield the brain from free radicals, lowering the risk of strokes and neurodegenerative diseases. It is anti-inflammatory. Carnosol is also a promising cancer chemoprevention and anti-cancer agent. Rosemary may have some anticarcinogenic properties. Rosemary contains a number of potentially biologically active compounds, including antioxidants, such as carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid. Other bioactive compounds include camphor, caffeic acid, ursolic acid, betulinic acid, rosmaridiphenol, and rosmanol. As an essential oil, rosemary oil should not be ingested, proper research should be done prior to utilizing this oil.
